This embroidery-only machine offers the largest embroidery field Janome has ever put on a home machine — a massive 7.9" x 14.2" working area that opens the door to full-back jacket designs, large quilt blocks, oversized monograms, and detailed multi-element compositions that simply aren't possible on standard-sized machines.
Four hoops come standard: the flagship RE36b (7.9" x 14.2"), the SQ20b (7.9" x 7.9"), the RE20b (5.5" x 7.9"), and the SQ14b (5.5" x 5.5"), giving you the right hoop for any project size. A wide extension table is also included — essential for supporting large garments and stabilizing bulky projects during stitching.
The 550e is loaded with 180 built-in embroidery designs and 6 monogramming fonts, and the full-color LCD touchscreen makes design editing, resizing, rotating, and combining motifs fast and intuitive — no PC required. When you do want to bring in your own designs, USB transfer and direct PC connection via Embroidery Editor software make it seamless.
Everyday embroidery is smoother too: automatic thread tension control, automatic thread trimming between jump stitches, bobbin and upper thread sensors, automatic return after a thread break, and a superior built-in needle threader all reduce interruptions and keep your project moving.
